Growing up in a large Italian family in Northeast Philadelphia, food has always been an important part of my life. When I was 17 my father opened a pizza shop which was run by my older brother. I worked at the shop during the school year and down the shore at a well known pizzeria in Sea Isle in the summers. I loved making pizza’s and always knew from that point on I wanted my own place someday. I went to college at Widener University and graduated in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management. This helped me learn to run the business end of it.
I am now proud to say I have built my own successful family run pizzeria. Caputo’s Pizzeria was opened in January 2009 and slowly but surely has gained an audience in the neighborhood as well as a following during the annual Manayunk Art’s Festival held every year in the Spring. If you want to try authentic, hand tossed, thin crust, made with the freshest ingredients available pizza… Caputo’s is the place!
